What We Do Not Provide

As of October 5, 2017, Dr. Engen does not provide psychological services for child custody litigation, competency hearings, or other forensic/court-related cases with the exception of certain evaluations referred to us by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.  The specific kinds of forensic services which Dr. Engen declines to perform include (but are not limited to) the following:  relocation assessments; domestic violence assessments; child alienation assessments; child sexual abuse assessments; child custody evaluations; parental fitness evaluations; trial consultation; work product review; document reviews and summaries; and psychological analyses of legal strategy for trial.  If we determine that you need or are seeking a mental health provider who can provide expert witness testimony in a hearing or trial, we will suspend any further services and refer you to other agencies or providers in the state of Georgia who may be able to provide you the relevant forensic psychological services.

Additionally, as of October 5, 2017, Dr. Engen no longer provides pre-surgical psychological evaluations, fitness-for-duty evaluations, or Worker’s Compensation Insurance psychological disability evaluations.  Further, we are not able to provide evaluations of psychological disability for Social Security Disability Adjudication Services.

As of October 5, 2017, our providers do not see children younger than 4 years of age for assessment, psychotherapy, or consultation.  Nor do we provide psychotherapeutic treatment to children or adults with severe intellectual impairment, severe and/or violent conduct problems, active pathological use of drugs or alcohol, or active self-abusive behavior, such as ongoing cutting, anorexic starvation, bulimic purging, or high-risk sexual activity.  If you need providers who offer treatment for these kinds of concurrent and ongoing problems, we will provide you with the contact information of other possible clinicians in the area who are not associated with The Eupatheia Center.

We reserve the right to deny services to those who have outstanding balances for past services from us or those who have misrepresented significant information about the client’s history, current symptom profile, current or recent substance use, risk of harm to self or others, or etc.
